Phew! That was a close one...

I think I would have had a "complex" if the first person I sent my query to had accepted me. But no worries, I suck just as much as the rest of you because... I got my rejection letter.

Wow, 24 hour turn around. That is something else. Either my letter was "that bad" or they are just "that good" or I guess it could have been that they have too many YA Fantasy pitches right now.

But in any event, I got a form email back saying blah blah blah, sorry this is a form letter, blah blah blah, but we don't want it.

I think I am going to print it out and frame it. Because there will never be another first rejection letter... there will be a "last"... and then there will be singing.

Ahem, moving on.

So, I started a new project yesterday. Yes, I know I already have quite a few going. What's your point? I was emailing back and forth with a writer friend of mine and well, without going into a novel length explanation, she handed me something I had been looking for.

Figuratively, of course.

There was a timed writing contest in April 2009 for WritersWrule.com. Rules: You have two days to write a short story(had to between 3-5,000 words) and you have to start with a famous line from classic literature... yes two days. Yes, someone else's first line. So, I did it. Wrote it in two days. Edited it and turned it in.

Ha, I won. Go figure.

It was an emotionally charged short story (10 pages? You can read here)about Ishmael and Little William. It's a fiction story based off true events.

After winning I thought, I could make this into a full length novel of Chronicles. Identifying other "Unseen" happenings in a similar light.

That was back in April/May and I am JUST NOW getting around to writing Chronicle two. But that is because nothing reached out and grabbed me... until yesterday.

So without giving it away, I will say it will be a good one, I hope. Another Unseen story. This time it's Stephen's turn with a princess named Jessa.
